Hailing from Bari, Italy Christian Ugenti is an Italian pianist, composer and conductor.
An eclectic musician who grew up in a strict classical environment, he earned three conservatory diplomas in Piano (Bachelor's and Master's Degree with Cinzia Falco), Composition and Orchestra Conducting. He has participated in international masterclasses all over Europe for prestigious pianists including, but not limited to Aldo Ciccolini, Aquiles Delle Vigne, Piero Rattalino and Kostantin Bogino.
Beginning from age 14 Christian has worked as an accompanist for soloists and choirs for a variety of concerts, operas, recitals, etc. By the time he was 16 he began participating in numerous national and international competitions as a solo pianist; winning first place for at least 10 and placing in several others. Since then he has been working as a conductor, a soloist and as an accompanist and coach for opera singers.
The well-known Italian pianist Aldo Ciccolini, an expert in French impressionism, has made note of his technicality and musicality and has strongly urged Christian to record the complete piano works of Claude Debussy. He has become a master of taking Debussy's sensitivity into the repertoire of Giacomo Puccini with all the verist opera composers.
From 2008 to 2019 he has continuously played the role of Maestro Collaboratore and Sala at the Fondazione Petruzzelli in Bari, envisioning himself as a talented pianist with a deep and versatile musicality. He performs constantly and for each production the role of accompanist pianist and vocal coach of the whole Italian opera repertoire: Bellini, Donizetti, Mozart, Verdi, Mascagni, Giordano, Cilea, Leoncavallo, Puccini and others. During his work in theater he confirmed and increased his professional portfolio with a full consciousness of piano, orchestra conducting and gesture, and stage managing. Precisely for this reason it is in great demand in many other Italian institutions and theaters.
He extends his artistic preparation counting collaborations and artistic improvements with eminent musicians, directors and TV personalities. In particular with: the orchestra conductors Lorin Maazel, Renato Palumbo, Stephan Anton Reck, Daniele Rustioni, Giampaolo Bisanti and Daniele Callegari; the directors Ferzan Özpetek, Marco Bellocchio, Gianni Amelio, Luca Ronconi, Hugo De Ana, Pier Luigi Pizzi and Emma Dante; the artists Beatrice Rana, Barbara Frittoli, Elena Zaniboni, Felix Ayo, Michael Aspinall and Luigi Fait.
In 2017 he wrote and edited for the Florestano Edizioni publisher his own series of piano pieces called "Touches". Currently this series counts nine single works and explores colors and technical difficulties of the piano in a changing stylistic tapestry that incorporates reminiscences of late romanticism, French impressionism, American minimalism and pop-piano. The nine publications are available on every digital web stores.
In 2008 and 2016 he conducted numerous concerts with the Orchestra I.C.O. of the Metropolitan City of Bari; the programs feature pieces from the classical and romantic repertoire alongside his arrangements of soundtracks by Henry Mancini, Bernard Herrmann and John Williams. In December 2009 he was on the podium of the Petruzzelli Theater in Bari to conduct symphonic pieces and the Soirée Concert by Nino Rota alongside the italian pianist Pasquale Iannone.
In addition to being an excellent pianist and conductor, Christian is also a nationally and internationally recognized composer and music producer of computer music and film scoring, plus music for TV and other media. The works he wrote, performed, produced and mixed in his personal studio appear on television networks around the world (ABC, NBC, BBC One, Fox, CW, PBS, Discovery ID, Disney, Sony Pictures, Univision and others) and within the promotional campaign of Hollywood films and TV / Netflix series. Among all: Blade Runner 2049, Exodus Dei and Kings, Peppermint - The Angel of Vengeance, Thor, The Walking Dead, Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., American Horror Story, Once Upon a Time, and others. Since 2014 he has been continuously publishing for the most important labels around the world including Universal, Q-Factory (Los Angeles), Gothic Storm (London / Los Angeles) and Evolving Sound (Manchester).
He improves his experience as a music producer making sometimes some Sound Engineer job for Radio Rai 3, Amadeus and for the american label Divine Arts. He attended the seminars of the prestigious international institution "Mix With The Masters" at the famous recording studio "La Fabrique" at Saint-Rémy-de-Provence (France). From 2018 he is a certified Steinberg trainer taking courses on the Cubase program.
He constantly teaches into Italian and foreign masterclasses to improve the vocal performance and the italian diction of young and professional singers, as well as the psychological and narrative profile of opera characters.
